Waterpik, the water flossing company, hired WillowTree to do a research and strategy project to see how an app could help increase product and brand loyalty. Along with a researcher and strategist, we prototyped different solutions to understand what their audience would use, but more so, what their audience would enjoy using to improve their dental hygiene habits. We pitched the idea of a gamified challenge app that focused on habit building. We found that if a Waterpik user flossed for 14 days consecutively then there was a significant chance they would become a long-term flosser. So for each of the 14 days to build a habit, the Waterpik user would receive unique content relevant to their journey in mastery of the device. I became the lead designer (and only) on the project, in charge of the UX, visual design, and all the animated content in the app—over 50 unique animations!
